• Clearly identifying the areas of the scaffold that have been handed over
• Clearly stating the maximum capacity of the loading bays & working platforms & the tie spacing
• Inspecting the entire area of the scaffold before it is taken into use. The scaffold inspection checklist below (Checklist 02: Inspection of Scaffolding in Use) or another suitable checklist may be used
• Removing “scaffold incomplete” warning notices from the finished scaffold
• Preparing a report of the inspection, e.g. using form GA3 “Report of results of inspections of Work Equipment for Work at a Height” or similar. A copy of the report should be retained on site
• Identifying the person responsible for further modifications and inspections of the scaffold

The following must be carried out prior to scaffold being used:

• Checklist of scaffold inspected in use
• Handover of scaffold to user
• Completed GA3
